1 Big Favour - 34 Very Happy LadiesEast Coast Radio is celebrating the Christmas Season by granting 12 Big Favours. The radio station has always taken their social responsibility seriously and this year Emma Barter Home, situated in Pietermaritzburg, was one of their very lucky recipients.Emma Barter Home is a 125 years old establishment that is home to 34 ladies. Earlier this year I became aware of a technological need at the Home. The TV was antiquated and their movies were still VHS format. I emailed Damon Beard, at ECR, who has for years been granting Big Favours, and was surprised recently to learn that the Home had been chosen as one of the worthy beneficiaries. Keeping things under-wraps was one of the most difficult things to do and even harder was to mislead the Matron, Maureen Rosettenstein, into thinking that she was going to be taping a fund-raising insert. The big reveal was at the ECR headquarters with Damon and Wanda, from Vodacom, presenting Maureen with the gift of a state-of-the-art TV and DVD player, as well as DVD's. Thank you to East Coast Radio (Damon, Hazel and Michael), and Vodacom for their generosity. - Sera Glaus
