Anglican News 2.0 Website Relaunch

While the printed edition's fate still hangs in the balance, the website is still going strong and has grown in popularity and seen a steady 20% increase in traffic month on month

The Natal Anglican News Newspaper, could suffer the fate of many print publications and could end after 8 good years. Like many printed publications being plagued by high printing costs and low returns, the newspaper probably had its final edition in December 2008. While the printed edition's fate still hangs in the balance, the website is still going strong and has grown in popularity and seen a steady 20% increase in traffic month on month since being launched in late 2005

The website originally acted as an online archive system for the newspaper, where visitors could download the latest PDF edition of the Natal Anglican News. As the online presence grew to accommodate demand, full articles started becoming available and in the past few months, the entire edition became fully integrated into web pages.

The online newspaper has now relaunched and will cater for the entire South African Anglican Community and not be localised to Kwazulu-Natal.

The benefits of the new media website include:

  • The same team running the online newspaper, but with a few role changes and a greatly reduced running cost.
  • Monthly editions (as opposed to bi-monthly) which means you will receive the latest news as it happens.
  • Hyperlinks and email addresses embedded into the story, so you can get more exposure for your church and any websites that are involved.
  • Stories will be automatically submitted to Google and will be available directly from searching Google, giving you international exposure.

This is a very exciting time and we here at www.anglican.co.za would love you to be a part of it.
